Lorraine Spring-Taylor, B.Ac.

Photo: Lorraine Spring-Taylor

From a background of nursing, social sciences and medical research, Lorraine went on to study acupuncture with J.R. Worsley at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, UK (CTA). From here she received her BAc. Degree then continued her studies with Giovanni Maciocia on the Journal of Chinese Medicine TCM course. Following a one year post-graduate course in classical Chinese at Oxford University she continued her studies of classical chinese texts with Claude Larre. She is particularly interested in the symbolism of dis-ease as an allusion to a more whole sense of well-being, both for the individual and their community.

Her long study and practise of Yoga and Feng Shui has provoked many insights into seeing the body as a landscape holding secrets from the past and - via the acupuncture points - the unfolding of a healthier future.

Lorraine has been in practice since 1980 and teaches 5 Element diagnostic methods at the Shiatsu Zentrum Bern, and gives post-graduate seminars in acupuncture, and clinical supervision at the Schule für Naturheilkunde, Zürich.

Lorraine lives in Bern with her 2 children and is founder of SICA.

Publications:

  • Chapter on Traditional Chinese Medicine in Handbook of Complementary Medicine, edited by Stephen Fulder, 1983
  • "Acupuncture, not just another analgesia". Oxford University Medical School Journal, 1981.
